Hi Jmd, it is best to give a nightly budget in Euros. Some places have single rooms but most will be doubles or twins for single use at the same price as for two people. The area of the Marais that is in the 4th arrondissement is a good place to stay.

My sister-in-law and a good friend have each stayed separately at Hotel du Levant: http://www.hoteldulevant.com
Both are 40-something women who were traveling solo and appreciated the central location (5th/St. Michel) and safety. Each thought it was charming.

vlfrance, that place looks great! 73 euros for a single room in that location including breakfast?!
jmd, for the price the single room is probably very small, but it certainly looks good. Perhaps you could do a search on it here for further reviews.
Or if you%26#39;re looking for something cheaper than that, search for hostels as I believe there have been some recent threads here recommending some.

I%26#39;ve stayed at both locations of CISP (although it was years ago) ... not by the Seine but within walking distance to the metro (in the 12th %26amp; 13th). I found the accommodation was decent (simple but clean) and it included breakfast.
