Leather Jacket or Wool Blend Peacoat in mid-late April

I%26#39;m trying to decide whether to pack my leather jacket or wool blend peacoat on a trip to Paris this spring - any suggestions?

I looked at a guidebook, I am going early-mid April, it said avg. temp. is 50-60F. I am going to look at one of the online weather sites right before we leave to see what their 10 day forecast is, it might help. Have fun!

Hi:

I am also going early April to Mid April and was

planning on layers, silk underwear, fleece and

raincoat- but I am wondering if that will be warm

enough?. I did buy a silk shawl for the evening.

We are also taking a train to Annecy for 3 days

and I am packing a warm hat and gloves for there.

I am hoping it will not be too cold and need a heavy

type jacket, but will also be check forcast the

week before up to the day before.

See you there!!!

If your wool-blend peacoat is like mine it will be too warm and heavy, especially if you spend a lot of time walking, then going in and out of museums and cafes. If it is cool, cafes will have their outside heaters going.

I don%26#39;t know about your leather jacket, but the best thing I ever took on a trip to Paris which turned out to be chilly was a car coat with a zip-out, quilted liner vest. I think I wore every combinatioon on that trip; coat with liner for very cold days, just the coat on somewhat warmer days, and just the liner on warmer-still days.

In my expirience in Paris, that outermost layer shouldn%26#39;t be to warm as you can layer a sweater or vest or a liner inside it.

Yeah...which of the two coats is the most rain-resistant ?? That%26#39;s the one you should take.

Hi everybody...I keep seeing this expression %26quot;peacoat%26quot; what exactly IS a peacoat.

Wait until a three days before your trip, then read the recent weather patterns and predicitons before deciding. It could be a very rainy spring, a very warm one. Impossible for us to know.

I am wearing a leather bomber at the beginning of April. With obligatory scarf. It also has a hood so should cover all bases. I%26#39;m hoping, though that it will be warm enough that I can just wear short sleeves underneath

The suggestion about the forecast is the best one I%26#39;ve seen. We just returned from a week in Paris and a week in Provence. Paris was 40 - 52 degrees the entire time, perfect for me. I had a light jacket, a scarf (mandatory in Paris to be chic) and gloves. I was never cold. BUT I had been warned that the weather can be anything so check the weather forecast before you go and ring an umbrella. You should be all set.

Denise I think this is the kind of thing they are talking about. www.nextag.com/wool-peacoat/search-html

Personally, I would go for something more water resistant.

Think of the same sort of thick wool melton fabric usually found in Royal Navy/Gloverall %26#39;..watch/duffle coats..%26#39;. A %26#39;pea coat%26#39; is the US Navy equivalent--usually the same sort of thick, wool melton fabric in a double-breasted coat style, that extends just blow the hips--
