I would like to know the best way to get to Versailles and Giverny without going on a tour bus? I have done the Paris Vision tour before and was not given enough time to explore Versailles and the gardens. I know I can take the RER out to Versailles but am not sure how to get to Giverny and back to Paris. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am traveling to Paris the beginning of May.

Unless you do it with one of the escorted tour-bus groups...NO...the two attractions really can%26#39;t be done in a single day
VERSAILLES and GIVERNY are located on two separate SNCF rail lignes, with no direct %26#39;connection%26#39; between the two lignes/two different directions. There are separate trains to both VERNON (for Giverny) and VERSAILLES-Rive Droite from PARIS-Gare Saint Lazare...but schedules would be difficult.

To Giverny, you need to take a train from Paris to Vernon, then walk/bus/bicycle to Giverny itself. See the website for more details: giverny.org/transpor/
Even if there is a way to get from Versailles to Giverny without going through Paris (they are in opposite directions), if you %26quot;take enough time to explore Versailles and the gardens%26quot; by the time you%26#39;d get to Giverny, I doubt you%26#39;d have much time to see it before they close at 6 pm.
