9 Day paris trip

My wife and I are spending our 20th anniversary in Paris. We will arrive on March 31st at 11:00 am. By the time we get to the hotel and checked in, It will be closer to 2:00pm. (We have a Jr suite booked at the Hotel Napoleon) Any comments or advice would be appreciated. We depart Paris on April 9th at 10:00am. This give us 8 full days plus the day of arrival. Any itenerary suggestions for the 8 full days? My wifes goal is to see as many musums and sights as possible without rushing around. She has read most of the travel guides. Should I book the museum pass online or wait till we get there? Also, any advice on getting to and from CDG?

Whoa, there, partner! You%26#39;re new here. That%26#39;s fine. But before posting catch-all entries, you should have a look at our fine Inside Pages:

http://sn.im/paris-inside-pages

They have information on attractions, transportation to/from the airport, and much more. Send my apologies to your wife because it is impossible to see everything one wants in Paris, even if you stay there for the rest of your life. However, you can visit a good amount of museums and sights in 8 days. It%26#39;s just a question of priorities and interests.

When you have specific questions, use the Search function in the right-hand corner. If you don%26#39;t find anything pertaining to your question, post it here.

Bon voyage! :)

Ooops-

The search bar is in the center of the top of the forum. Sorry for misleading you.

thce1, here%26#39;s a link to a thread that is currently running right now that is a great itinerary for an 8 day trip. I personally think their itinerary is well planned, and the sites are geographically close to each other, and it covers a lot of ground without rushing.

I think the general consensus here is to wait until you get to Paris to pick up your museum pass as it is cheaper that way.

Regarding getting to and from CDG, we used Parishuttle and were very happy with it:

I%26#39;m not sure where the Hotel Napoleon is located, but another option is to take the RER train into Paris from CDG or just catch a taxi (make sure it%26#39;s a marked taxi and not a fly by night operator - it should be marked Taxi Parisien).

Have a nice trip.

how bout a side trip to Normandy ?

I did that a few years back.

you can train there %26amp; back (lil%26#39; over 2 hrs each way), and book a packaged van tour to see the beaches, cemeteries, and related sights.

it was very moving %26amp; powerful.

The itinerary on the thread pmmcTO posted looks good.

I%26#39;ve recently finished pulling together a 9 day itinerary for the Paris leg of my trip with my Mum: her first OS trip. We%26#39;ll be there from 26 March and depart for Italy on 4 April.

If your interested, PM me and I%26#39;ll forward it to you.

As you%26#39;re arriving at CDG, there are multiple desks for picking up the Paris Museum Pass - so I wouldn%26#39;t bother booking on line.

The cheapest may to get from the airport is public transport (the RER from CDG, changing at Chatelet-Les Halles for Charles de Gaulle-Etoile.

Alternative - given it%26#39;s your 20th anniversary and you%26#39;ve booked a posh room in a posh hotel - look into shuttle/limo services to get door-to-door.

I stayed in a Jr. suite at the Napoleon a few years ago. We took the Air France bus from CDG. Line 2 drops you off right by the Arc de Triomphe. It%26#39;s about a 3 block walk to the hotel. The bus ride was very comfortable and they unload your luggage for you. Price per person is 15 euros one way or 24 euros round trip. A taxi would be even easier and would likely run about 50 euros.

You can buy the Museum Pass at the Arc de Triomphe. It%26#39;s a good place to buy it because the lines are usually short and it%26#39;s open every day from 10am to about 10pm.
