CDG-Paris-CDG in 6 hours

Hi, there,

I have 6 hrs to spend at CDG airport, so I thought

I might take a quick look at central Paris.

I%26#39;ve never been there.

So I wonder how to make most of it.

Can someone tell me what is the fastest transport from the airport to the city? Maybe train+metro? And what is the cheapest way?

Thanks

Cheers

The timeline is tight and personally, I wouldn%26#39;t attempt it.

BUT

If you take the RER-B from CDG to the St-Michel/Notre Dame station (35 minutes, DIRECT) and follow the signs to %26quot;sortie 5%26quot;, you%26#39;ll arrive in Paris directly in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral. If that%26#39;s all you were able to see of Paris, you%26#39;d still be better for it. Stunning location to view the city for the first time.

6 hours isn%26#39;t much, given the 2-3 hours you%26#39;ll need to budget to check back through security to the departure gates again.

Of course, you%26#39;ll have to make a few changes to fit your particular situation:

1. Take the RER B to Denfert-Rocherau, NOT Gare du Nord. You can skip the parts about Gare de Lyon.

2. At Denfert-Rocherau, transfer for line 6. Take it to Bir Hakeim. Then, follow the plan as described until Notre Dame.

3. Finish your day with Notre Dame. Cross Ile de la Cité. Board the RER B at St Michel-Notre Dame. Take it back to CDG.

Here is a printable street map of Paris with metro lines:

As I stated in the other post, a proper Parisian experience simply isn%26#39;t possible in this span of time. Lower your expectations and enjoy the atmosphere. That is how you make the most of it. :)

6 hours just isn%26#39;t enough time unless you don%26#39;t care if you have to buy a (very expensive, last minute) ticket for a flight that is the replacement for the flight you didn%26#39;t get back in time to board.

The problem is that it can take at least 3 hours to clear security and check in at CDG - and if you don%26#39;t check in at the time required by your airline - you can find yourself bumped from your flight - I%26#39;ve seen this happen to full fare paying folks from First Class who thought that First meant that the rules didn%26#39;t apply to them and they just had to be at the gate 30 minutes in advance - unfortunately they were wrong and after they screamed for about 10 minutes, Security led them away. Then the rest of us were boarded (having had enough time to absorb the importance of The Rules).

Thanks everyone,

I%26#39;ll give it a try. I don%26#39;t expect to see much, just

to have a coffee and take a short walk. Thanks for

the maps and directions!

I actually have 7hrs, but thought I should be back

1hr before the flight. I%26#39;ll make it 2.5 instead, thanks!
