Day trips from Nice

Will be in Nice for a week in April. My husband and I want to take a few day trips while there. We will not have a car and want to travel by bus or train depending on convenience and cost.

1 day - San remo or Ventimiglia and Monaco

2nd day - Cannes and Antibes

3rd day - Eze and villefranche

Is St. Tropez worth it also?

1 day - San remo or Ventimiglia and Monaco

Train is the easiest option for sanremo/ventimiglia. Monaco is on the route anyway. You have the option of taking the bus to monaco and train from monaco to ventimiglia/sanremo

2nd day - Cannes and Antibes

Definitely train- its too long on the bus unless you are a real budget traveller=its not scenic either.

3rd day - Eze and villefranche

definitely bus - eze village is only reachable by bus buses to villefranche are more frequent than trains

st tropez -is difficult to get to by public transport -its about 3hours one way -train to st raphael then a bus [though a boat is an option in the main summer season There is no train station in st tropez.

Is there a website to view the train schedules to better plan the trip?

For trains look at www.ter-sncf.com. Generally you would be travelling on local trains so they do not need to be booked in advance.

I would also consider visiting St. Paul de Vence, one of my favorite places. You will not be traveling during the peak tourist season, so St. Paul should not be too crowded, and the village can be reached from Nice by bus.

On the SNCF site from the US, you will be sent to RailEurope when you ask for a translation. This is a pricey booking agency, and the fares there are much higher than you%26#39;ll get at the station. Also, not all routes and fares are displayed. This is not a good site for pre-purchasing your ticket, but ok for planning. If you can navigate the SNCF site in French, it will be your best source.
