I can%26#39;t find an on-line menu for La Castafiore on Ile St. Louis. One of my traveling companions when we go to Paris at the end of this month doesn%26#39;t eat meat or fish, and so I need to plan around her menu needs.
Does La Castafiore offer menu choices sans meat or fish?
I%26#39;ve eaten there in the past, but I simply don%26#39;t remember. I could call them directly and ask, but I%26#39;m being frugal (ok, cheap...) and am hoping to get my answer here.
Thanks in advance...

If you don%26#39;t find out in advance, can%26#39;t you stop by and look at the posted menu? Shouldn%26#39;t they have some pasta dishes sans meat/fish, salads..?

I seem to recall that they are Itai. That would mean pasta and plenty of veggie options.

La Castafiore has either closed or moved. I walked by there in Oct. and a different restaurant was in its place.

Wow. Thanks for that heads-up, nutsabouttravel....time to find a different choice.

There%26#39;s now a restaurant called Sorza on this location: www.restaurant-sorza.fr
You can find reviews and press releases (some in english) on http://www.restaurant-sorza.fr/Presse.htm

It was a favourite of mine BUT I believe it must have either CLOSED or MOVED. I went looking for it when in Paris Oct 2008, and it was not there!!!!!!!!!!
If it has shifted I would like to know as am returning to Paris this August. Cheers.

For future reference wherever you dine - drop into the restaurant the day before your reservation or when you make your reservation and advise that a member of your group doesn%26#39;t eat meat or fish - and request that the chef design something to accommodate the guest.
Generally one day is enough notice to give since chefs shop for the day%26#39;s requirements very early in the morning and he/she will be able to make a decision based on what is fresh and plentiful that particular day.

1BCTraveler gives very good advice. If you have particular dietary requirements, it does pay to ask the day before you dine.
Just because a dish is vegetable pasta doesn%26#39;t mean it is vegetarian - I would hazard a guess that at most restaurants there is no truly vegetarian choice on the carte - from entree to dessert most dishes will probably have animal based ingredients.
This, of course, depends on how vegetarian a person really is, but if you or someone in your party requires real animal free food, you will have to ask if it is possible in plenty of time and give the chef time to prepare it.
