Hi,

I really LOVE this area! When I%26#39;m in Paris I stay in Rue d%26#39;Odessa which is right near this street. Before each trip to Paris I tell myself that this time I%26#39;ll have a hotel in a different area of the city, but I just can%26#39;t…

This street is close to the famous Boulevard du Montparnasse - A LOT of cafes, restaurants, crêperies, cool, lively atmosphere. Go west with this street and you%26#39;ll find the wonderful %26quot;Gardin du Luxembourg%26quot;.

The peaceful Boulevard Edgar Quinet is also nearby. There%26#39;s a food market there several days a week (sorry, I forgot which days exactly), on Sundays you%26#39;ll see there a lot of artists showing their paintings. The Cemetery of Montparnasse is also there. If you don%26#39;t want to enter, just surround it – the streets nearby are just beautiful!

But with all the respect to cemeteries and artists, the greatest %26quot;asset%26quot; of Boulevard Edgar Quinet is the Inno supermarket – you%26#39;ll find there EVERYTHING YOU NEED!

Boulevard Raspail is also a %26quot;not to be missed%26quot;

In my opinion, one of the best shopping area in Paris is within 5 minutes walking from there – it%26#39;s Rue de Rennes.

If you walk till the end of this street, you%26#39;ll find yourself in Boulevard Saint Germin.

Very cute area -- quiet, unless you venture towards the Tour Montparnasse. If I remember correcty, your hotel is right around the corner from a great little restaurant I went to two years ago (with the way small restaurants turn over in Paris, it%26#39;s possible that the place is not there anymore though). The restaurant is called %26quot;La Cerisaie%26quot; and it%26#39;s located on Edgar Quinet (as you walk from the tour Montparnasse I believe it%26#39;s on your left hand side of the street). Quite a small spot (12 or 15 tables tops), but they offer a nice take on French cuisine and had very friendly service.

Sorry I%26#39;m late here, but this is my Paris %26quot;home%26quot; - rue Delambre by Pl Fernand Moulot - here is my web page about it with some of my faves: %26quot;Favorite places to do absolutely nothing%26quot; - members.virtualtourist.com/m/tp/14612c/

(I stay a couple doors down at Hotel Delambre when I don%26#39;t rent an apartment).

Some great restaurants and cafes: take a right out the front door of your Hotel Lenox and half street down is the Dome and Bistrot Dome - some of the best seafood (sole menuire) in Paris.

My favorite Paris cocktail bar (Rosebud) is at 11 bis rue Delambre just a few doors down (ne).

Cafes Rotonde and Select (an Atelier) are great for breakfast / petit dejeuner or for hanging out, down on the corner (to your right) across from the Dome on Blvd Montparnasse.

Some of the best crepes in Paris are at Le Grande (and le Petite Josselin) on rue (not blvd) 67 rue du Montparnasse on the small street right next to rue Delambre. Odessa of course, and the infamous and amusing rue de la Gaite (to the sw behind you) has everything from sex shops to Theaters and bistros. Edgar Quinet (blvd) behind you has great market days Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sorry about the long list, but you have chosen one of my favorite areas, and there is so much to do and so much history just right outside your door.

I have lots more recommendations and photos about Paris with a Montparnasse %26quot;slant%26quot; here -

if you find the time. Bonne Chance and have fun!

To this thread, I would add restaurant L%26#39;Auberge de Venise, 10 Rue Delambre. The prices are very reasonable and the food is outstanding -- traditionally Italian, but better than any Italian we%26#39;ve had!
