Paris Museum Pass

We plan to buy the 4 day museum pass.

1) Since will be arriving in Paris via the train, is it easy to buy the pass in Paris or buy the pass on-line but and pay the 13.5 Euro for shipping.

2) I have been told that the Museum pass will get you into the Versailles but there are places and things inside the Versailles that only the one-day pass will give you access to. Is the Versailles one-day pass worth the extra cost?

Please pass on any hints/information that you think that might be useful to us in Paris. Thanks

There is no point in buying the Pass in advance and adding to the already considerable cost of it. It is sold at the Tourist Offices and all participants covered by the Pass. You can buy it at a less popular museum to avoid a line without having to use it there (unless you wanted to).

I don%26#39;t know what the Versailles ticket covers that the Museum Pass would not. Maybe someone else knows that.

I would wait until you arrive to purchase the pass, it is very easy to purchase the pass once you arrive, just go to any museum that the pass includes and ask for a pass where you buy tickets. I am looking at my four day pass which I purchased week before last and it does not say anything about Versailles. I did go to Versailles but had to pay the full price of admission even though I had a pass. Hope you have fun, Regards, TC

Ooops, now I see on the museum pass where it does include price of admission to Versaille, this is what the pass says for Versailles- %26quot;Entrance with the pass through the priority access C. Visit of the hall of mirrors and Kings chamber. Possible additional charges for audio guides (at the chapel%26#39;s entrance hall) and guided tours (door I, left building, main courtyard). Hope this helps, regards, TC

***DO NOT***DO NOT***DO NOT*** prepurchase the PARIS MUSEUM PASS (or a PARIS VISITE transportation pass) prior to your arrival in Paris. They are quickly, easily and less expensively available in Paris at the official price. With most pre-purchase offers, you will pay up to a 25%-30% %26#39;premium%26#39; for almost ZERO additional %26#39;convenience%26#39;.

There may be a Paris Tourism %26#39;..BIENVENUE/WELCOME kiosk at your arrival train station-- http://en.parisinfo.com/our-welcome-centres/ --where you may purchase the pass immediately upon arrival...or purchase it at any PMP-participating museum.

Is there a place to buy the pass at CDG?

|||

Yes they can be purchased at CDG although they were out of the one I wanted when I tried. On the Pass site it says which terminal location under places to purchase.

|||

In addition to the main palace, the pass also covers admission to the Grand and Petit Palais and Le Hameau at Versailles. The only thing we had to pay additional for was the fee for the gardens (normally free but we went on a fountain day) and for the tram.

We purchased a 2 day museum pass via the hotel we were staying at. However, we ended up returning them (without any need of a refund, since we hadn%26#39;t paid for them yet), simply because we only visited three museums during our visit last September 2008 (Louvre, Museum d%26#39;Orsay and the Rodin Museum) as planned, and had no problems getting in (no queues as such).

If you intend visiting many museums, then go ahead, maybe it would be worth you while.

I bought my Museum Pass in the UK where a 2-Day pass is £ 29.80 plus £2 shipping (which is a total of about €34,60 (the %26#39;official%26#39; price is €32,-)) which is a premium I%26#39;m happy to pay for the convenience. I%26#39;m also getting over €65 of admission out of it.

I do wish I%26#39;d bought the 4-Day pass, though.
