Polidor restaurant

I don%26#39;t see any reviews of recent date - has anyone tried it within the last few months and can report back?

We hope to visit at the end of March after a 17 year gap and don%26#39;t want to be disappointed.

We%26#39;ve been eating there for a couple of decades, the last time in June08. We%26#39;re probably never going back again. Even their signature lentil soup has drifted from sublime to mediocre in just a couple of years. I could put up with curt and often rude staff when the food was fantastic but it%26#39;s been a while since the food was worth seeking out. Don%26#39;t bother. It%26#39;s become a tourist trap.

Ditto what Metromole said. I was there in Oct. and the meal was mediocre at best. So was the service.

I had very fond memories of Polidor from 20 years ago when I was taken there by my parents; my dad had been going there since his student days. So, when I recently stayed down the street from Polidor, I asked the concierge whether he would still recommend Polidor, and his answer was very emphatic: %26quot;No, no, one cannot eat well there - it has become quite horrible!%26quot;

He said that if we wanted good renditions of the old Polidor mainstays like coq au vin, boeuf bourgignon, etc., that we should go across the street from our hotel (in rue Casimir Delavigne) to a tiny restaurant called La Cambuse. We did as he suggested, and not only ate very well, but found ourselves charmed by the owner (who also waited on us) and the space, which looked like it belonged in some little village, not in the middle of Paris.
