From Paris Austerlitz, take a train to Onzain the closest station to Chaumont. Onzain is on the north side of the Loire River just opposite Chaumont which is on the south side. You could easily walk the distance, it%26#39;s about a mile or less. Or you could take the train to Blois and hire a taxi to Chaumont.

You could also take the TGV to St. Pierre des Corps and hire a taxi to Chaumont.

If the weather is good, I recommend walking from Onzain.

Not too many people ask (or even know) about the Garden show at Chaumont. It is interesting, kind of a miniature Chelsea Flower Show.

If gardens interest you, I recommend the Jardin des Plantes near Austerlitz. Spend some time here and visit the Alpine garden which has a special entrance and can be missed if you are in a hurry.

From Austerlitz (just next door) you can take M10 to Boulogne Pont de St. Cloud which is the other end of this Métro line. Here you will find one of Paris%26#39; most interesting Gardens - Le Jardins du Musée Albert Kahn. There is a small entrance fee but this garden has possible the largest display of Azaleas maybe in all of Europe (it%26#39;s not big by US standards but I do not know of anywhere else in Europe with this many), as well as themes encompassing an English Garden (pre William Robinson%26#39;s influence), French garden, and of course the Japanese Garden filled with Kurume Azaleas.

You might find these interesting.
