What are the possibilities of getting to Lourdes from Pamplona then to St Jean Pied de Pont. Are there trains or busses and how frequent.

You can get from Pamplona to Lourdes in about 7 hours by train. I don%26#39;t know about buses but I doubt if there are any.

You can leave Pamplona at 1057 or 1307. Later trains require an overnight journey which takes up to twice as long and will involve long waits in the middle of the night at cold stations.

Source : www.reiseauskunftbahn.de (the all knowing German railways database for European trains) but you cannot buy tickets through that site unless the journey is to or from a station in Germany.

Getting from Lourdes to St Jean Pied de Port is more straightforward. There are local trains from Lourdes to Bayonne and from Bayonne to St Jean Pied de Port.

Check times carefully as there are only four or five trains a day.
