How much time would anyone recommend for spending in Alsace? Plan to do wine touring and visiting primary tourist sites, at a reasonable pace; will have a car. Not sure how much time to book.

I%26#39;d recommend three nights, probably four if you want to explore Strasbourg in any depth as well. That gives you time to take your time, visit wineries and chateaux and hang around in places like Colmar and all of the lovely smaller villages and towns along the way. We had four nights and three full days and it was a nice amount of time - although we could have done with more! Then again, we had friends to visit in Guebwiller and we (sadly) didn%26#39;t make it to Strasbourg...

Thanks so much. We%26#39;ve just signed up on Trip Advisor, and I can see it will be extremely helpful.

Strasbourg and Colmar both deserve a full day and it%26#39;s another day to drive along the route du vin (stop off in Eguisheim, Riquwihr and Kaysersberg plus any other villages that take your fancy). Then you can add in the neighbors on the Alsace border such as the Black Forest and Basel or visits to castles or up in to the Vosges mountains. Reaally 3 days minimum, but enough for a full week easily.

Oh I agree! We certainly would have liked more time in the area; more than three to four days really would be good if you can manage it, but they%26#39;ll be better than nothing. %26quot;Border hopping%26quot; is great too - add Nancy and Baden-Baden to that list of extras (along with Jon%26#39;s suggestion re the Vosges mountains, they%26#39;re lovely).
:)
