Travelling to Nice at the end of April for a family 40th birthday celebration. Want to arrange for a birthday celebration on the evening of my sister%26#39;s birthday, in a really nice restaurant! Any Ideas for somewhere to eat thats extra special and will make the night even better!
Were all staying at the Mercure Promenade Des Anglais, in our 30s-40s.
Thanks for your help!

You might consider Chantecler, in the Hôtel Negresco.
|||
what sort of cuisine?
what amount per head minus wine?
Hopefully the birthday does not fall on a sunday or a monday as most of the really nice places are shut then

The Rotonde, also in the Negresco (that posh hotel with the big green dome,along the Prom des Anglais)is fun with excellent food and impeccable service. It is less formal than the Chanticler, and yes, the painted horses are moving, it%26#39;s not the wine. Best to book. But there are so many super restaurants in Nice. As a dear old Spanish friend of ours used to say: %26quot;too much choice inhibits freedom%26quot; - never knew what that meant!

I know you want an extra nice restaurant, but I have to add that La Pizza is wonderful and full of the Niçois spirit. The restaurant is along the rue Masséna, about 2-1/2 blocks from the Mercure. La Pizza has a full menu, but the pizza there is even better than what we%26#39;ve had in Italy. Sitting outside in the evening is great fun (there are heaters if the day is chilly).

Personally I wouldn%26#39;t recommend the Chantecler, I prefer any of these:
Jouni
L%26#39;Aphrodite
L%26#39;Univers de Christian Plumail
Luc Salsedo
Flaveur
Padouk
|||
Catullus
Do you mean La Pizza Cresci across from le Quebec?
|||
The location sounds right, but I don%26#39;t remember anything but La Pizza--same as in Cannes. I still dream about the pizza we had there, and if I could get cantal cheese here I would try to make something close.

Thanks all for the suggestions, theyre great!
As its a special occasion, we%26#39;l be pushing the boat out. Were all foodie people and really enjoy our wine, so the Negresso sounds like a good plan. Her birthday is actually on the 26th (Sunday) so will need to get moving on booking something!
Thanks again!
