Running in Paris

I am interested in going for some short runs while in Paris. Are there any advice as far as dress, etiquette, safety concerns, etc when it comes to a female running in Paris? ( I will no be running at night- probably around 8-9am)

Any suggestions as to good/ scenic places to run? We will be staying near the Arc de Triomphe at the Le Meridien Hotel

Despite its name it is not quite by the Arc de Triomphe, more like by the Porte Maillot.. streets around there have relatively wide smooth sidewalks, unlike the vary narrow ones in the older districts. Look at a map for the Park Monceau nearby and go run there. The Bois de Boulogne park is nearby too.. .when on holidays I take a break from fitness as our bodies need a break from routine and average tourists in Paris walk many many miles daily without noticing it.

You are fairly near to Park Monseau. It has a track for running. Another nice spot is Promenade De Plante, a railroad track turned into a sort of hanging garden. It goes forever.

The runners I saw in paris dress the same as we do here.

I have seen people running in Luxembourg Gardens. You might try that.

As noted, the HÔTEL Le MERIDIAN--81 Blvd. Gouvions-Saint Cyr, 75017--really isn%26#39;t all that %26#39;near%26#39; Arc de Triomphe. The shortest walking/running distance from hotel at Arc de Triomphe is a bit over 1 kilometer.

As noted, there are wide boulevards running from this location (check your Paris street map) so running in the evenings shouldn%26#39;t be a problem.

The hotel is near to the northeast entrances to BOIS de BOULOGNE. ***DO NOT***DO NOT***DO NOT*** even consider running here in the evenings. Did I happen to mention that running in Bois de Boulogne at night is a REALLY BAD IDEA....unless you have the urge to %26#39;meet %26#39;n mingle%26#39; with some of Paris%26#39; LESS reputable hookers and drug dealers.

oh ! i%26#39;m so glad i read this post , i%26#39;m staying in the port maillot area next week and i was on %26quot;google earth%26quot; having a look about the area and thought what a lovely park (bois de boulogne) . was planning a nice walk there , but think i%26#39;ll give that a miss now !!!!

Please read KDKSAIL post AGAIN!!! he said not to go to Boulogne IN THE EVENING. During the day and especially in the areas with lawns, flowers and restaurants it is safe. It is the big wooded areas that aren%26#39;t safe at NIGHT or, more to the point, are a sleazy hanky panky area..just like in many big parks around the world, including New York Central Park I heard. But then it is basic common sense Not to go in ANY park anywhere at night!

%26quot;... running in Bois de Boulogne at night is a REALLY BAD IDEA....%26quot;

As noted...it%26#39;s at ***night*** that Bois de Boulogne is a problem. ***NOT*** during daylight. Otherwise it%26#39;s a perfectly lovely spot to explore during the day--LONGCHAMPS race track...PARC de BAGATELLE...JARDIN d%26#39;ACCLIMATATION...JARDIN SHAKESPEARE...RESTAURANT PRE CATALAN...lakes...equestrain center equestrian trails...
