alone for the weekend

so how have i not been to paris already?!!..i finally got sick of waiting for a prince charming to take me and I am now going to see it for myself at the end of April for the weekend. I am thinking of staying in a back packing hostel ( as i%26#39;ve backpacked before) so if anyone has any tips of where is best to stay (thats close to the main sights) and where to eat etc then please give me some advice...i%26#39;m excited about my trip.

thanks

Are you staying at hostels for budget reasons? The reason I ask is that, if we know your budget for food, lodging etc. it will help us recommend places.

The one (MIJE?) in the 4th is nice and extremely well located. Hostels are also an excellent way to meet up with other travelers.

Dear Jane, I can totally understand the hostel thing if your on a budget. However, if you can afford it try and stay at a nice hotel. Treat yourself. Your worth it!

I found picking up sandwiches and treats at the pastry shops are the way to go. It%26#39;s cheap and yummy. If I find a decent deal I%26#39;ll buy 2 sandwiches one for later. I ask in my best French (which is beyond horrible) if they would double wrap it for later.

And the French as passionate about their food and drink you can find food in just about every 5th building ;) Your hotel/hostel will have tons of info about local eating places and don%26#39;t be shy about using a coupon. I printed up a coupon from Galeries Lafayette for a special free gift. It%26#39;s a key ring and according to the ad, it%26#39;s free with a purchase of 50e or more. And www.travleingprofessor.com had some great advice in my opinion.

I%26#39;m sure more experienced people here on TA will give you some great advice, I%26#39;m so happy your going on your own. Never wait on anyone, especially when it comes to travel. You go girl!

thanks for the replies, some great tips. the reason i wanted to do hostel is just to meet people asi hope to go drinking on an evening and in a hotel you just don%26#39;t get to mingle really and people keep themselves to themselves.i would like a hotel though and i might consider it i just know the euro is bad at the mo. budget isn%26#39;t really a problem as i have a few weeks to save. i%26#39;d like to eat out one night but will be grabbing sandwiches etc during the day
