Do you mean - Sainte Maxime near St Tropez?

I suppose you could take a train to either Nice or Marseilles, then rent a car...

|||

Sorry wrong spelling .You %26#39;re right .Its from Paris to St Maxime neat St Tropez.

Nice or Marseilles to drive from?

|||

I have no experience there.... I know the Nice airport is outside of town, might make an easy escape.

I like to have some things squared away early, so I%26#39;d say to make hotel reservations for October by May or June for sure - October falls (no pun!) into a busy convention and show season. If you have your heart set on a certain hotel, don%26#39;t wait past May or so.

We re planning to spend 7 days in St Maxime(staying with a friend).I read about boat to Cannes.What do you think?Is that worth while ti do from St Maxime fr a day trip.

|||

I%26#39;m sorry, but I don%26#39;t know anything about St Maxime... do you think your friend can advise on what to do in the area?

|||

i think that%26#39;s the best.Was hoping to get more info from others..thanks again.

Try reposting under a different forum, Cannes or Sainte Maxime or Cote d%26#39;Azur...

We did almost exactly what you%26#39;re trying to do recently. Over the last week of Nov08, we took the TGV to Marseilles, rented a car (AVIS through the SNCF boutique), and drove the entire côte d%26#39;Azur to Nice where we returned the car and took the TGV back to Paris.

The rental car experience in Marseilles was OK (except they switched us to a car that we didn%26#39;t like) but driving out of Marseilles was pretty awful. Over and over again, streets were blocked by delivery vans and there were many bottlenecks due to construction projects. The city is congested at all hours of the day and it took us nearly two hours to get only as far as Cassis.

On the other hand, returning the car in Nice was a breeze. The AVIS counter was directly adjacent to the front door of the Nice SNCF station and the traffic through the city at 17h30 on a Thursday wasn%26#39;t bad at all.

Our bottom line, we won%26#39;t be driving in or out of Marseilles again if we have the choice.
