Breakfast and lunch in Paris on the weekend

I will be staying in the Marriott on the Champs Elysees, and refuse to pay the kind of prices the hotel is charging for breakfast. Does anyone know a good spot, and where should we go for lunch. We will be seeing all the normal tourist spots so lunch doesn%26#39;t have to be near our hotel.

For a start, don%26#39;t eat on the Champs Elysees: the street is a tourist trap, and almost all of the restaurants charge high prices for indifferent food. Get a block or so away, and you will find loads of little restaurants that offer much better value. They all display their menu, so just wander around until you find one you like. It should not take long.

This is what I did when I spent a week just off the Champs Elysees last year, but I cannot now remember the names of any of the little restaurants.

True French restaurants don%26#39;t serve breakfast.. You have to go to a cafe or TO a bakery that has tables for customers. A French breakfast is %26quot;cafe au lait%26quot; (cafe with lots of hot milk) and croissants or toasts or pain au chocolat etc. If you want a substantial breakfast go to any brasserie. They are big places that are open all day long and serve hot food all day long too, unlike restaurants that only open a few hours for lunch and again for diner.

Any brasserie or cafe that is open early in the morning will be prepared to serve omelettes and croque monsieurs - (grilled ham and cheese sandwiches), along with croissants etc. You%26#39;ll have no trouble finding a decent breakfast as long as you%26#39;re flexible about the menu.

There is a La Brioche Dorée and a Ladurée on the Champs Elysées. Ladurée doesn%26#39;t serve coffee, Dorée does but is a fast-food type place. You%26#39;d do better getting off the CE for any meal.
