I am going to montpelier for the weekend of 14th march and as my daughter is going there in september for the year we hope to look at the rental accommodaion available, Has anyone any advice on locations / price etc and wheter it is better to live near the university or in town ? Would appreciate any help, and if anyone could recommend a nice restarant that would be great too !

L%26#39;entrecote (just off la Comedie) is worth a try.

Most students prefer to live in town and use the tram to get about.

March is probably too early to organise a place for Sept. Many of these apts are rented to students Sep - June and tourists, if empty, Jul/Aug. The colleges have a prop finding service nearer to Sept.

Probably best to explore and decide where is best to live.

Whilst waiting to buy a house in the winter months, I rented a beach flat at Carnon. It was very cheap and there was a bus service to Montpellier. Carnon was very quiet, but there were some students, and air crew from the nearby airport who %26quot;wintered%26quot; there.

Thank you will definetly try that restaurant, we are staying in a hotel called le guilheim, we are coming by tgv from paris, and hope to see all the sights and maybe even get to the opera. I know its a bit early for student accommodation but the university dont organise it and seem to give them very little information !! by all accounts she wants to live in the centre.

thanks again

There are many student accomodation, as previous poster says, it%26#39;s probably difficult to nail down before sept.

If you google %26#39;résidences pour étudiants%26#39; you will probably come up with something. This is a small town, so pretty much everyone is living %26#39;in the town%26#39; or not far away from their colleges. Expect to pay less than 600 per month for these conveneience all in type of accom. Most colleges are towards the north of town.

You can also visit %26#39;Le Pole%26#39; beside Le jardin des plantes - Rue Auguste Broussonnet (big building with big columns) for private renters offering studios - give you an idea about accom - but of course there probably aren%26#39;t any studios being offered now.

Resto recommendation is good. One of the best bakeries in town is just before the resto mentioned - same side - on the corner - in Rue Verdun.
