Live music in the streets of Paris in May

I%26#39;m planning to be in Paris in May. Does someone know where and when it%26#39;s possible to see street performances and listen to live music?

Thanks.

You just never know where you%26#39;ll stumble onto this.

One Sunday in May, I was strolling along the Seine across the island and there was a Dixieland band on one of the bridges.

The RATP--Paris public transportation authority--%26#39;licenses%26#39; street musicians (formal auditions twice per year--March/April %26amp; September/October) to perform in Metro station halls and passageways. So %26#39;tour%26#39; through Metro stations (mainly in central Paris) and you%26#39;re sure to find %26#39;licensed%26#39; performers, as well as the musical %26#39;outlaws%26#39;.

The terraces around MUSÉE d%26#39;ORSAY will often have street performers...and in the evenings locations like PoPONT des ARTS have an ecclectic mix of performers from classical string quartets to %26#39;fire eaters%26#39;. The acoustics within the COUR de CARÉE at the Louvre are remarkable, so you%26#39;ll often find musicians performing within this space.

On weekend evenings there is often a band across the street from the Deux Magots cafe on boul St Germain.

Weekend afternoons often a band on the pedestrian bridge that joins the Ile de la Cite to the Ile St Louis.

And once a week, or so, strolling musicians pass through my neighborhood playing for us residents. No tourists around here, so I don%26#39;t get it, but its true.

There is a sing/dance-along on r. Mouffetard on Sunday mornings at 11:00 or 11:30. It%26#39;s just in front of St. Medard%26#39;s church. Here%26#39;s a link:

what great photos, thanks for sharing

We notices lots of street musicians/performers around the St. Michel area near the Seine (border between Latin Quarter and St. Germain des Pres.

Do make sure that you%26#39;re aware of your bag/belongings as these types of settings are ideal for pickpocketers who can find targets a little easier when there is a group of people whose attention is otherwise engaged.

Oops - notices = noticed! Where%26#39;s that edit button!

There are usually a number of street performers on the bridge between the Left Bank and the Ile St Louis, the one that brings you right to the Brasserie D%26#39;Ile St Louis. If you are lucky there will be five guys playing Dixieland and dressed arrordingly.

I was there in Feb. and there was quite a bit of live music, although I don%26#39;t remember specifically where it was. I%26#39;m pretty sure we saw the dixie group though.
