Hi
We are coming to Provence from the 15th - 20th April.
We are staying at Le Thor and will have a car.
There is myself and my husband and our 15year old son. I really want to go to the Sunday market at L%26#39;Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Everything else is flexible.
Getting my family out the door by 9.30am is a miracle and they don%26#39;t like to be rushed. We all enjoy spending time in cafes %26amp; restaurants and just people watching and admiring the view. We will eat out every evening so extending our day visiting another place can be carried into the evening.
We are not keen on museums and not so interested in art.
We would like to see pretty villages (there are too many to choose from). We are interested in architecture and history. So some of the larger places sound very interesting as well as the Roman ruins.
This is my short list but I need to cut it down.
Bonnieux
Lacoste
Rousillon %26amp; the orchre footpath
Gordes
Gault
Moustiers-Ste-Marie
L%26#39;Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse
Avignon %26amp; a tour of the Papal Palace
St Remy
Aix-en-Provence
Arles
Pont du Gard
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Also, I get very car sick so places like Fort de Buoux can%26#39;t be on the list.
Thanks

I would suggest....
Fontaine de Vaucluse - pretty town, very small, lovely drive to get there, not a lot to do once there, but you can walk up to the ruined castle on the hill and continue up on the unmarked foot paths.
Pont du Gard - So great I went back again! I suggest taking a picnic lunch - gather everything up at the Avignon market if you%26#39;re going on the same day as it takes place, and when you get there, obviously check out the Pont du Gard itself, but wander around. Once you cross the river, you can follow it, and it becomes more ruins with arches in the middle of valleys and there were some nice views and old caves.
Avignon and Palais - The palais tour might be a little %26quot;stuffy%26quot; if you%26#39;re not so into museums, but it%26#39;s def a cool place to check out none the less, dont get suckered into the cafes out front though, they are way over priced in my opinion.
Arles - is lovely, enough there to keep you busy almost all day, if not all day, they also have a huge market, but I%26#39;m not sure what day.
Have fun!

Thanks for the help Cascade.
We are thinking of this itinerary
Wed - Train from Paris to Avignon, get car and check in, return to Avignon tour Pope%26#39;s Palace and stay for dinner
Thurs - Gordes, Rousillon, Lacoste and Bonnieux
Fri - Moustiers-Ste-Marie %26amp; Aix-en-Provence
Sat - Pont du Gard, Les Baux (Is this a drive that will make people carsick?), Cathedral d%26#39;Images, %26amp; St Remy or Uzes????
Sun - L%26#39;Isle-sur-la-Sorgue markets, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and drive past Abbaye de Senanque (If we want to spend quite a bit of time at the markets here will these 2 villages be enough????)
So St Remy or Uzes (it is market day in Uzes. Sometimes the markets can really change the feeling of a town for better or for worse)?
Have I got enough without rushing and allowing for several coffee stops?

I%26#39;d say you%26#39;re doing a good job at packing it in.
I remember Gordes being nice, but I didn%26#39;t spend more than 10 minutes there so I dont know what there is to do there. Rousillon is supposed to have some nice hikes. I dont know how far apart those Thursday cities are from each other.
I remember the drive to Les Baux being very windy, and also the road to the Abbaye de Senanque. Then again I was on a bus, so maybe in a car it will be better? But yeah, I remember that to be a crazy drive. Uzes is nice too, that%26#39;s by the Pont du Gard, relatively.
I%26#39;d say you have enough. Again, if you dont it sounds like you%26#39;d be happy in a cafe for a little while. Remember lunch and dinner take a while unless you are just grabbing something for lunch.
