Hi all!
I%26#39;ll be travelling to Paris with 3 seniors come 11-13 May 09 for 2 nights (detour from our London trip), and have have been doing some research on which hotels to stay. Have shortlisted some based on the area %26amp; budget: (we%26#39;ll be taking the Eurostar from London)
1. Hotel Derby Garibaldi (Montparnasse area)
2. Hotel Arley Tour Eiffel (Montparnasse area)
3. Hotel L%26#39;atelier Montparnasse (6e arrondissement
area)
4. Inter Hotel Delos-Vaugirard (Montparnasse area)
5. Hotel Carladez Cambrone (Montparnasse area)
6. Hotel Montpensier (Louvre area)
7. Hotel Arc de Triomphe (Champs Elysees area)
My general criterias are:
1. Convenience for the 3 seniors I%26#39;m travelling with (minimal walking, especially stairs)
2. Easy access to metro stations %26amp; near enough to the main tourist spots
3. Prefer a quad room to save budget, which I%26#39;m ideally looking at less than 350 euros for 2 nights for 4 persons
4. A place decent %26amp; clean enough to stay, not too rundown
Based on shortlist above, which hotel would you recommend? Or else, based on the above criteria, would you know of better options?
Also, would love to know where I should head to for shopping, mainly like interesting unique markets, inexpensive wears, etc?
Would TOTALLY TOTALLY be very appreciative if anyone can help me with the above questions :)
(have been staring at the paris map for a whole day today compiling the hotel infos, kinda dizzy from all the unfamiliar French words :p)

Hi --
Public transportation makes all the single digit arrondissements equal; - the criterion that probably should be #1 on your list is whether or not the hotels have lifts. Sometimes the lift is very small, but it%26#39;s possible to get a person and one or two bags (stacked judiciously) in the car - you%26#39;ll just have to make more than one trip.
If the nearest Metro station doesn%26#39;t have a lift or escalator, you can always take a bus.
For shopping information do a search here on the forum page for %26quot;shopping%26quot; and for various types of shopping, as well.
BTW - if you%26#39;re tea drinkers, bring your tea with you - the coffee is great but the tea is nothing to write home about except in the tea salons - where it%26#39;s very expensive, but OK for a one time visit for the experience.

Of your list, Hotel Montpensier would be most central.
Hotel Arley isn%26#39;t Montparnasse - it%26#39;s much closer to the Eiffel / Seine.
Rather than the metro system (lots of stairs and walking underground), look into the bus system.
