Hi
We will be traveling in early May. Attempting to pick up a car
on a Sunday morning in either Annecy or Dijon Railway Stations and finding they are not open at all in Annecy and in Dijon Station after 3p.m. Does anyone have suggestions or know of Avis or Alamo Rental stations in either town that opens earlier on Sunday and on or Saturday afternoon??
Also can someone familiar with Annecy make suggestions of what to do in town other than enjoying the natural setting, walking around the town etc We are not into athletics or swimming. We will arrive the morning of April 30, so if there are cultural things can do that that afternoon since attractions, museum etc close on May 1 for the Holiday. ,Can spend all day May 1 walking around the town, enjoying the setting etc. Is that enough time to get to know Annecy or is it worth staying past May 2. Are there must see attractions that will be closed for the Holiday. I would love input on things to do in Annecy and how much time to allot to it (given that everything closes on May 1.)
Would love some input on the issues above ASAP as I need to finalize plans for car rentals, acommodations etc.
Also if anyone can suggest some modest but safe and well located places to stay in either Annecy, Vezelay or Dijon, would be most appreciative.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Many, many thanks,

We stayed at the Hotel du Palais de l%26#39;Isle in Annecy; it was very nicely located in the old town. I would recommend it.
In Dijon we stayed at a wonderful apartment; check it out and read the glowing reviews by travelers. www.myhomeindijon.com
It could not be in a better location for exploring the historic district, and the owner makes you feel as though you are a guest in her apartment, which is stocked with everything you could need and then some.

Thanks for the tip. Will consider it.

Sundays are very quiet in France - and I dont think there%26#39;s a car hire place in Annecy station anyway. You dont say where you are coming from, but if it%26#39;s Geneva, the best plan is to get the bus from Geneva to Annecy. Taxis are not cheap, but if you use this option, order an Annecy taxi, rather than just picking up a Swiss one.
There are lots of hotels in Annecy itself, such as the Splendid, which is right next to the lake.See the town%26#39;s tourist office website for sightseeing/events/hotels
