Bonjour,
I would love to have your best suggestions for some fun things to do, eat, sip during my upcoming quick trip to the above towns. I think I%26#39;ll put Paris into a separate post next.
One afternoon we%26#39;ll be in Les Andelys.
From Rouen we are going to visit the Normandy Beaches but we have a second day there too. Would anyone recommend going to Chateau de Vascoeuil Art Center? Really, I am not at all familiar with it.
From Vernon, we were going to Monet%26#39;s Giverny on March 27 but it is not open then so we are going to Versailles instead. Any input on Vernon or Versailles?
We%26#39;ll be in Honfleur and Caudebec for a day.
And we%26#39;ll have the time in Paris.
For all tips and advice that you can provide today through next Friday, March 20, merci.

Wow, less than an hour has passed and my post is already on page 2. What a great board.

I give you some %26#39;random%26#39; suggestions....
Rouen is great in itself, with a lovely Cathederal, the Grand Horloge and the Joan-of-Arc history. However, it is not the best base for visiting the D-Day beaches, you would be better going to Bayeux of Caen for this %26#39;mission%26#39;.
IF you can%26#39;t go to Monet%26#39;s garden, there really is little point in you going to Vernon (IMO) so I would stay/go/spend your time elsewhere instead.
Honfleur is pretty, you will like it. The old Harbour is picturesque, and the various museums are endearing, and worth a visit. Walking out to the mouth of the Seine Estuary is good, but watch-out for the quicksands (don%26#39;t panic, well signposted!!).
Caudebec I don%26#39;t know so can%26#39;t advise anything, sorry, and same goes for Les Andelys.

thanks. Any other ideas out there?

Have a good look at the TA Normandy Forum, you will find a load of good information and advice there.

I recommend Au Bouillon Normand, 7, rue de la Ville, in Honfleur. Charming, busy little family-run restaurant with the menu on a chalkboard; delicious food.
In Les Andelys we stayed at La Chaine d%26#39;Or and therefore had dinner there, but we arrived from CDG around lunchtime, and we had a great Norman lunch of savory crepes and cider at a restaurant up the street from La Chaine; don%26#39;t know the name of it.
Have fun!

Les Andelys consists of two different spots, Petit Andelys (a smallish village on the banks of the river Seine) and le Grand Andelys, a large town with a fineGlamboyant/Renaissance cathedral. Near Petit Andelys is the Château Gaillard, built on the order of Richard Coeur de Lion. It%26#39;s perched high on a hill, with a great view of the surrounding countryside.
La Chaîne d%26#39;Or is a very pleasant small hotel with an exellent restaurant.
From Les Andelys you could easily visit the pretty little village of Lyons-la-Forêt, where Maurice Ravel once lived.
