Pullman Rive Gauch Ex- Sofitel

So upon selecting 5 star hotel in Eiffell or Champs Elyses area on priceline, I got matched to this hotel. ALl I have read are DREADFUL reviews about it and I am depressed about this! Its our first time to Paris and I would like it to be memorable. Are there any good reviews out there? I am worried about being able to get to the main attractions such as Eiffel, Louvre, etc. Is this a challenge from out hotel? Can someone please advise what subway or bus to get onto to get to these main attractions. I dont mind getting up early to venture AWAY from our hotel and spend our time in the main areas of Paris...tips anyone??

As long as this hotel is clean beds to sleep on and nice bathroom, I will be happy as long as we can easily commute to the main attractions. HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST FOR US, TAKING THE METRO EVERYDAY TO GET INTO TOWN? THANKS , MERCI!!!

The hotel is:

Pullman Paris Rive Gauche Ex-Sofitel

8-12, Rue Louis Armand

Paris, 75015

For me, the former Sofitel Rive gauche was in a different location so it sounds confusing. For me it was on Boulevard St Jacques/ Boulevard Auguste BLanqui in the 13th , not in the 15th

That%26#39;s one of the risks with using Priceline in that zone of Paris. ;^(

The good news is you aren%26#39;t that far, about 500 yards I%26#39;d guess, from the Balard Metro stop.

Once you%26#39;re on the metro... Paris is your oyster!

Here%26#39;s a metro map you can check:

You can also use bus #39 which is right next to your hotel.

You can download its map at ratp.info/picts/plans/pdf/bus_paris/39.pdf

Notice some of its stations: Rue de Sevres, Rue de Rennes (great shopping area), Saint Germain des Pres, Louvre, Grands Boulevards, Gare de l%26#39;Est.

Regarding the prices: see transilien.com/web/…en

The relevant options are Carnets, Mobilis, Paris Visite or The Carte Orange Hebdomadaire, which is now available as The passe Navigo Découverte

So how was the stay at the pullman? My friends and I will also be staying there and I read your review and wanted to know how it all went... Please advise on your experience.

The PULLMAN PARIS RIVE GAUCHE (4-star--Ex: Sofitel Paris Porte de Sèvres-3-star)--8 rue Louis Armand, 75015, Metro: Balard (end of the #8 Metro ligne)-- accorhotels.com/gb/…index.shtml --is only just %26#39;..in..%26#39; Paris by the %26#39;skin-of-its-teeth%26#39;. It is located hard-up on the %26#39;outside%26#39; or the Périphérique (Paris %26#39;ring road%26#39;). It%26#39;s a modern %26#39;business class%26#39; hotel, that%26#39;s well situated if you want to do business with one of the various, nearby French Ministèer de Défense department or agencies (nifty %26#39;Mirage%26#39; fighter jets on display); attend a business exhibition or convention at the nearby Paris Expo Centre..or visit a sick friend at the Hôpital Européen-Georges Pompidou. or Hôpital Carentin Celton...or take the kids %26#39;aqua-tubing%26#39; at the nearby AQUABOULEVARD water-park attraction (not exactly Hershey Park..but it%26#39;s loud %26amp; wet enough). The HÉLIPORT de PARIS is right across the street, so you could consider this for an airport transfer from CDG All in all...it%26#39;s a lousy neighborhood for a tourist....even if your Priceline %26#39;deal%26#39; gets you a room on a high floor with a distant view of Eiffel Tower.

It%26#39;s a 350-400 meter walk, under the Périphérique, up Ave. Porte de Sèvres (past a nifty delta-wing %26#39;Mirage%26#39; fighter jet on display) to the BALARD Metro station for the #8 Metro ligne...and a couple of public bus routes; notably--

The morale of the story is that before sitting down in front of a computer to bid on a hotel/ or reserve one the more conventional way--in Paris or anywhere else-- one MUST: 1-have a map of the town and one of its transit system. 2-have read about the various districts of that town and have flagged several areas on the map with coloured X. like red for best possible area, blue for 2nd choice, green for 3rd choice etc. (these are YOUR choices according to what you read in guides, the internet, and trade-off you can put up with--in my case it would be staying in the 18th or 19th because it is cheaper yet has interesting areas and I don%26#39;t mind spending a bit more time in the metro. THEN one can start looking for places. personally I think that this bidding process is like a real auction: a precious few get a great bargain but most are badly shafted. What is the point of getting a cheaper so-called fancy place that no one want due to its location? if a deal is too good to be true it ALWAYS is too good to..
