Am thinking of having either lunch or dinner at Le Train Bleu when I%26#39;m in Paris last week in April. I%26#39;ve looked at their website but it looks like the %26quot;a al carte%26quot; menu (not the set menu) is the same for lunch or dinner. Is this correct? Also, if the price is the same for lunch or dinner, any advantage going at night vs. lunchtime? Lighting, etc.? Thanks for any input. Do I need to make a res. or can we just walk in and wait for a table?

At LTB both a la carte and set menus are same at lunch and dinner, so I would go for dinner, since in other places lunch is often cheaper and so there is an advantage to going there for lunch.
There%26#39;s also a Sunday brunch, from 11:30-2:30 for 37 euro p.p.

Has anyone been to Le Train Bleu for the brunch? And if so, how was it?

Also, as you will be there in April, I%26#39;d go at night to benefit the most possible from the natural light on a terrasse at lunch, which is not possible at LTB.

Beware that the restaurant is a bit hot and stuffy (and i don%26#39;t usually like air conditioning), and also it is a large room (very beautiful) so noisy.
Personnally i would go there for lunch, there would be less noise i guess, but the lights at night make the room more special

I like it for dinner especially since la carte and le menu are the same.
I%26#39;ve eaten there in March and May, and the temperature was fine. However, since there%26#39;s no A/C I would not choose it on a hot day in the summer.
I think you can usually walk in, but all places prefer a reservation.

Is there really no A/C there?? We had lunch there on a stifling hot day in August, and I don%26#39;t ever remember feeling uncomfortable at all. I just assumed it was air conditioned.

I had lunch at Le Train Bleu in early September. It was very enjoyable. I didn%26#39;t realize prices were the same for lunch and dinner. Knowing that, I would probably have dinner there and save my lunch restaurant choices for those restaurants which give a discount for lunch--as previously mentioned. April is unlikely to be hot so don%26#39;t even sweat the AC issue. It is very light in the restaurant at lunch time and it is a very large restaurant.
I went alone and I made a reservation. The restaurant was full. I recommend you make a reservation. You can do it online in advance (probably even now) and they respond rapidly with a confirmation. Enjoy!

It is very beautiful, the murals depict where the train would stop. You can see the restaurant in the film, La Femme Nikita and MFK Fisher writes about in in, Long Ago in France.
|||
Do they accept Credit cards? It is not mentioned in their website. I am going in April, I made a reservation already. Thanks for the info.

We had no trouble paying by credit card (Visa) but you might want to email them if you are using something other than Visa/Mastercard.
BTW, here%26#39;s a link to the scene from La Femme Nikita so you can see the restaurant.
