Hello, we are offered accomodation in that neighbourghood for 5 weeks in July. I travel with young kids and a senior mother. Is it a safe area?

Thank you.

The area is quite large, can you give the adress, that would help. Generally speaking, it is not central, and not the best in Paris but as far as safety, it can be seedy but shouldn%26#39;t be dangerous.

I would disagree with Raphy - I always stay in the 19th, and have always thought of it as one of the nicer, quieter middle class areas. It may depend where in the 19th though - I am always near Jean Jaures on the northern side or the area.

I stayed there with my 15 year old daughter, and am taking my 70 year old parents there later this year. There%26#39;s plenty of restaurants, some good parks, and a good range of shops.

True, it%26#39;s not central, but I loved the neighborhood that I stayed in a few times when invited to stay with a close Parisian friend and her stepfather. They owned an apartment building on rue des Dunes and the area was very nice. We would walk up to the park which was also nice. Happy Travels!

le 19th is a pleasant area, with the big Parc de la Villette and the romantic Parc des Buttes Chaumont and it is also a cosmopolitan area. There are beautiful 19th century apartment buildings and an unusual number (for Paris) of single family houses in the Mouzaia area. These small houses, with a tiny garden and no garage were built for blue collar workers in the late 19th cent./ early 20th cent. and now sell around 1 million Euros. So much for a seedy area..

We need an address. I stayed in the 19th at Le Laumiere, nice safe area. Good metro links to the centre.about 10 minutes and 3 stops from Gare de Nord.

I would take children and elderly mother there anytime, especially as it is so near Parc de Buttes Camont and Parc de Villette, Cite es Sciences et de l%26#39;Industries.
