Travelling through Europe by road

Does anyone know if it%26#39;s illegal to pull off the road and sleep in the car in France? Also Spain, Portugal, and Italy?

In France there are rest areas or %26quot;Aires%26quot; along autoroutes where one can catch a nap if needed.

Can%26#39;t say for the others.

also www.viamichelin.co.uk is quite useful to plan your route and I beleive it gives details of services as well.

I would get %26#39;off-the-road%26#39; before doing this, same as in the UK. Apart from the fact that our UK law %26#39;probably%26#39; follows the EU law, it would be a lot safer for you, too!
